These past couple of weeks have been so hectic and busy. Getting the kids (and myself) adjusted to school and extra-curricular life has been a daunting task. I basically have to drag them out of bed each morning, followed by inevitable whining and complaining that doesn’t conclude until they are begrudgingly forced to enter the school building. By 8:40 my head is spinning and my body feels like it just ran a 5K! Why are mornings so grueling?
Thankfully, I have a few hours to regain my composure before the madness commences again at 3:10. For the longest time, I allowed my stress to get the best of me and dominate my life. I would spend countless hours worrying about the smallest things, such as an unmade bed, or a dirty dish in the sink. It was consuming. It wasn’t until I started blogging and styling that I realized there was a significant void. My daughters and domestic obligations were top priority and I honestly didn’t recognize my reflection in the mirror anymore. That vibrant, diligent, and determined young woman was hiding under a very deep pile of laundry. Thankfully, I mustered up some courage and took a leap of faith. With a lot of support and guidance, I dared to attempt the world of fashion and blogging and venture into the unknown.
Without a doubt, Stay at Home Stylist has been one of the most substantial and significant accomplishments thus far. It also serves as my stress reliever and escape. Whenever I am overwhelmed or feeling down, I sit down at my laptop and redirect my focus towards fashion and writing. My problems dissipate for the time being and an overwhelming sense of calm sets in. It’s my meditation. “If you do what you love, it is the best way to relax.”
I guess my purpose for this blog post is simple. It took me 35 years to realize how short life is. If you have a passion or dream, big or small, take that leap of faith. Don’t let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself, listen to your gut, and do what you love.
I remember reading a quote that resonated deeply with me. “We must let go of the life we have planned; so to accept the one that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell.
Here’s to relinquishing control, daring to dream, and making those dreams a reality! I look forward to continuous new and unplanned accomplishments for us all.
