No one loves a good skinny jean more than me. Sometimes, however, I like to change things up and venture deeper into the world of denim. Another particular style I can appreciate is the wide leg trend. It’s so retro and looks fabulous with the right heel. It adds just the perfect amount of drama too.
Wide leg pants are great at camouflaging areas you want to hide and highlighting flattering areas. If you are petite like me, you can definitely still wear a pair of wide leg pants. I often recommend opting for a slight flare. Too wide can become overpowering, overwhelming, obnoxious, and unflattering.
High waisted styles work wonders to elongate petite legs. Pairing them with shirts that can easily be tucked in are a plus. They accentuate your waist and conceal simultaneously.
Unsurprisingly, I found a fabulous pair at Target. This particular pair is from the new Universal Thread line. It’s a destructed skinny boot cut but happens to work perfectly with my short stature. It looks and feels wide leg, without becoming too overbearing. Normally, I would have to alter this style, but the length works well with my basic heels. I can’t tell you how excited I was when I tried these on. I recommend sizing down though. They even cater to my taller friends (who I envy daily), by offering all sizes in long. Don’t you just love when you find a pair of denim that is practical, functional, and accommodating to all shapes and sizes?!
If you are in the mood to broaden your horizons and swap out some older denim for some newer styles, give these beauties a chance. I know you will love them and so will your bank account:)
Special thanks to my friend Natasha from Natasha Chiaviello Photography for hanging out with me last week and offering to snap some photos. She recommended we meet at this laundromat. I loved the unique concept!
