Velvet Crush

Oct 11, 2017

There are some trends that don’t mesh with my personality but velvet certainly isn’t one of them! I am crushing hard on this chic style. The quintessential 90’s trend has made a definitive comeback this Fall. The resurgence of velvet has fashion designers and runways swooning and I am ready to get in on the nostalgia.

In the past when velvet has made a comeback, it’s been done very specifically. Structured dresses and blazers were dominating the fashion scene, but now basics and more casual pieces have been added to the list. I am particularly intrigued by the large selection of camisoles and shoes flying off the shelves this season. They are the perfect accessory and outfit enhancer.

Target has been killing it with their “velvet” selection at very affordable prices. Rompers, dresses, blouses, and boots have invaded their store and are selling out fast. I stumbled upon this pretty ruffled camisole on my weekly trip to the mother land! I knew it would serve as a very versatile piece. Not to mention the color was just exquisite and unique. Next on my list is a pair of velvet booties. They will be the perfect addition to my Winter shoe collection!

The soft texture and bold and inviting colors are mesmerizing and fun. Paired with jeans, under a blazer, as a dress, romper, or on your feet, the options are endless. If you are looking to attempt a new trend or possibly make a fashion leap, I recommend jumping on the velvet bandwagon.

“All any girl needs, at any time in history, is simple velvet and basic diamonds.”–Eva Gabor

I paired my camisole with a pink blazer. The colors are soft and inviting and can be dressed up or down.
Don’t be afraid to attempt new styles and trends. They are exciting and rejuvenating for the soul!
