Why is it that once October hits, life seems even more disorderly? The pressures of school, Halloween prep, and activities are always so overwhelming. For me Halloween inevitably means that we are that much closer to the Holidays. My stress levels begin to rise. My mind becomes fixated on gifts, holiday cards, attire, food, decorations, and everything else in between. The festivities, while joyous, are often chaotic.
This year I decided to get a head start. I took my holiday pictures early, created to-do lists, and have been scoping out outfits for the occasion. You may be rolling your eyes and mumbling under your breath right now. Believe me I am not offended. I am a firm believer in living in the moment but my very hasty personality requires massive preparation and zero procrastination!
Family, food, and fun encompass my favorite time of year. There’s nothing better than gathering with loved ones, eating delicious food, and making more cherished memories with our families. The smell of hot chocolate and pine, the picturesque landscape of winter white, and our babies snuggled on our laps in their Christmas pajamas are just some of the magical moments I look forward to each season.
While red is certainly not one of my favorite colors, I routinely become obsessed with this hue for the next two months. I love shopping for red attire for the family and taking pictures with Santa. Decorating and transforming my home into a jumbled menagerie of red and green is what it’s all about.
I started scoping out stores for the perfect holiday outfit and stumbled upon this adorable TOPSHOP skirt. It was displayed on the mannequin and I just had to try it on. I was drawn to the ruffle waistline and length. The floral pattern and color scheme are enticing and well suited for Christmas dinner or a holiday event.
I paired it with a black blouse and a red blazer from last season. It would look fabulous with a sweater and tights as the temperatures begin to fall. I love the tucked in look. It has a way of cinching in your waist and making everything look slimmer and sleeker. Topshop tends to run small so I would recommend sizing up.
This year, in between the baking, wrapping, tree chopping, and other treasured traditions, don’t forget to go shopping and dress the part. Throw on that red dress and heels and celebrate this wondrous time of year!
