NYFW: Midori Linea

Feb 10, 2018

If you would have told me a year ago I would be getting ready to attend my first New York Fashion Week event, I would have laughed in your face!  What started as a hobby, has manifested into so much more.

For the past few months, I have devoted and dedicated a lot of time to building my brand as a blogger and stylist, as well as nurturing and forging relationships with fellow bloggers, clients, and entrepreneurs.  It all may sound glamorous and fun, but self-doubt and fear continue to haunt me.  There have been so many challenging, intimidating, and tedious moments that have left me questioning my purpose and re-evaluating my goals.  Fashion and blogging are extremely saturated and competitive, at times all too daunting.  Thankfully, I have been blessed with fabulous friends and family, who have faith in my talents and urge me to persevere.

When I was asked to attend Midori Linea’s fashion week event I was dumbfounded.  It took a few days to accept my fate.  Once the shock wore off, pure elation settled in.  New York Fashion Week: OMG!  God gave me a sign.  It was time to bypass this overwhelming self-doubt.  Limitless and endless opportunities are still awaiting me.  My fashion journey is just getting started.

Midori Linea is a handmade jewelry company based in the U.S. specializing in quality, on trend, and timeless pieces.  Dainty hand chains, bracelets, earrings, anklets, chokers, and necklaces embody this exquisite line.  Lightweight, they are the perfect accessory for layering and make such a simplistic statement.  I was so excited to get an exclusive sneak peak to the new collection!

Another highlight: finally meeting some of my fellow blogger friends I have been engaging with over the past few months.  I am lucky to have connected with an extraordinary group of like-minded and very fashionable women.  They all remain extremely humble and grounded.  Despite the challenges, trepidation, pressures, and intimidation, we have worked hard to create a blogging community.  Our community is based on encouraging, glorifying, and building one another up.  It’s so nice to have met ladies who are genuine, kind, and supportive.  I feel like I have known these gals for years.  Think of a pen pal you have conversed and exchanged stories with, but never met.  To finally see them in person will be surreal!

My plus one was a no brainer.  Without hesitation, my husband.  Just kidding!  My mom would be my date.  My best friend and personal fashion icon, I knew she would appreciate this event.  After deliberating over an outfit for weeks, I settled on some wide leg pants and this fun floral bodysuit from Express.  We were on our way to the W Hotel for an unforgettable night.

We entered a room of very fashionable people, a complimentary DJ and beauty bar, and lots of photographers snapping away.   A table was set up with many pieces from the Midori Linea line, and I was excited to try some on.  I immediately spotted my first blogger friend Ashley and grew giddy!  As the night went on, more of my blogger friends arrived.  We documented this momentous time with lots of photos and instagram stories.  Normally when I take photos for the blog, I get lots of stares.  Tonight, I was in blogger’s heaven.  I could take all the photos I desired without a care in the world! The only downfall: poor lighting!

I know my fashion journey will continue to ebb and flow, but that’s okay.  Mistakes and defeats make us stronger.  There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that risk is doing nothing.  I choose to do something. My first NYFW event was a success.  When is the next one?  This girl is ready.
