There really is nothing better than a styled shoot. If you are going to hire a photographer, why not have every last detail done for you, right? That is exactly what our team has been up to over the last few weeks.
On Sunday, we had the privilege of seeing the magic unfold again. Meet the Moss Family. Mom Cheryl is friends with Sarah from our last shoot. She loved Sarah’s pictures so much, she wanted to capture this same beautiful sentiment with her own daughters. Cheryl, however, decided to bring the entire family on board, including the dogs! I had my work cut out for me, but I was up for the challenge.
Cheryl was an absolute pleasure to work with. We discussed her personal style and what she was hoping to convey. While her daughters, Michaela and Jolie are extremely girly, she wanted dresses that still depicted ease and could be worn again. She explained her need for comfort as well. She maintains a more casual and laid back style on a daily basis, so we wanted to uphold that. As a stylist, it’s not my job to change one’s personal style, rather enhance it.
I decided to focus on the girls first. Once we established their looks, it would be easier to coordinate everyone else. Cheryl wanted the girls to have different dresses. I set out to find similar styles and color combos that would work accordingly. I sent a decent amount of options to choose from and Cheryl took a liking to these floral and tulle dresses. Dainty and feminine, yet still practical.
I recommended that she and her husband Justin stick to neutral hues to tie everyone in seamlessly. Too many prints and colors would clash: a photographer’s worst nightmare! After some trial and error, we found a pretty ivory dress for Cheryl and a pink button down for Justin. I particularly love that her dress can easily be dressed down with a sandal for a more causal everyday look.
With wardrobe intact, it was time to get beautified. Make-up and hair appointments were in order and the outcome was fabulous. Teeze Hair Design worked her braiding and curling expertise, while Pristine in Pink made sure Cheryl looked fabulous, yet still natural.
Whimsy Interiors created set design charm once again. Every detail matched the outfits impeccably and complimented the overall ambience. These pictures speak for themselves. Ruffles and Trains Photography is a wizard behind the lens.
How adorable is this family?! Michaela and Jolie are real living dolls! They were so well-behaved too. What a pleasurable and rewarding experience to see it all come to life. Their jovial faces and these stunning photos are the icing on the cake. “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.” These captures prove just that.
