A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post featuring my mom’s dog Tessa. I talked about how I was yearning for a pup of my own. At the time, there was only one road block: my stubborn and somewhat controlling hubby Jim. After some begging and pleading, I was granted a Christmas miracle. He caved and jumped on the puppy bandwagon. I am not sure how or why he changed his mind, but I am so glad he did.
He took the initiative and began researching adoption and rescue agencies. He found the sweetest looking puppy rescued from Louisiana that was currently being fostered. I took one look at the pictures and was smitten. Regal and adorable, her name was Fern. We met with “Fern” last week and fell in love. After some deliberation and time we decided to adopt this precious fur baby as our own. Another girl to add to the clan. Initially, Jim insisted on a male, but then changed his mind. His words exactly: “It’s not like I’ll be able to teach a dog how to play football, so what does it matter?!” Poor guy. He’s completely defeated and has surrendered to fancy frills and bows for life!
Gianna’s one wish was to have a puppy for Christmas. Her disappointed and sullen face on Christmas morning was enough to cave and announce the exciting news, but of course we contained ourselves. Little did she know, a few days later, her Christmas list would officially be fulfilled.
In honor of her birthplace, we decided to name her Nola. Nola has been home only a few hours now and I have never seen my girls so elated. Their pure joy and happiness will make all the work ahead well worth it!
Welcome to the family Nola. We love you more than life already!
If you are considering a puppy, adopt don’t shop. Real Dog Rescue was a pleasure to work with and worked tirelessly to find us our forever fur baby.
Watch our girls meet Nola for the first time:
