I have met some of the most fabulous women along this blogging journey. Women who have single-handedly created businesses from scratch and exemplify true success. I am in awe of their relentlessness and commitment to honing their craft. They are self-assured, secure, and unfazed by scrutiny. They inspire and teach me everyday. Their support and guidance continue to help pave my styling path. My team of boss ladies and I have developed real and authentic relationships. I am blessed to now call them my friends.
What happens when a super talented photographer, a make-up genius, and a fashion blogger/stylist organize a meeting of the minds? Well, in my opinion: magic. Our master behind the lens, Erin, wanted to offer an exclusive promotion for Mother’s Day. A package entailing much more than just photos. The well deserving mommy will get a little pampering courtesy of Erica from Pristine in Pink and wardrobe styling by yours truly. Remember, when we look our best, we feel our best. A day taking photos with her kids coupled with pretty makeup and fabulous attire. Sounds amazing, right?! It doesn’t stop there. This styled shoot also includes design, decor, and impeccable details, courtesy of Whimsy Interiors. A whimsical tea party inspired theme awaits the lucky mommy centered in a beautiful park close to sunset.
We were lucky enough to book our first client. Many of you have met Sarah a few months back when I styled her for her trip to Las Vegas. A fellow boss lady and an old friend from college, I was super excited to work with her again. Sarah has two beautiful kids, Jackson and Ella, but decided to make this a very special “mommy/daughter” shoot. Ella, the quintessential girl, is every stylist’s dream. She thrives on dressing up and prefers fancy dresses over pants every day of the week. Keeping our theme in mind, I wanted to dress them as if they were off for high tea. An elegant, classy, and sophisticated mommy with her dainty princess was the vision.
As always, Sarah was compliant and super easy to work with. I sent her my suggestions and she was open-minded and receptive to my ideas. My vision was unraveling nicely.
Shooting day was so much fun. Erica did a flawless job on Sarah’s make-up. She has an innate ability to make her clients look beautiful through her subtle and softer approach. Sarah looked so natural. I suggested braiding Ella’s hair. 1. It would look polished and correlate with our theme. 2. I knew it would be easier for Erin to capture Miss Ella’s adorable and tiny features. Tracy, from Teeze Hair Design worked her hair talents and created the perfect braid intertwined with tiny flowers. Ella truly looked and felt like a princess!

The set design and location were more than I ever imagined. I was instantly immersed into a scene from Alice in Wonderland. When our 2 main characters arrived on set, the real magic unfolded. They both looked stunning. Their love and undying bond was evident and radiating. Erin feverishly snapped away and lots of kisses, hugs, giggles, and smiles ensued.
Ella warmed my heart when she looked over at her mommy and replied, “you look so beautiful.” There was no playing for the camera with this duo. Every moment captured was raw and candid. The genuineness was uplifting and enjoyable to be apart of.
There’s no denying who the real star of the show was. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Miss Ella is a force to be reckoned with. 3 going on 25, she is a bonafide boss lady in the making and my new best friend!
These inspiring pictures solidify my plea to take pictures with your kids. Document these cherished moments. “A picture is a story without words.” Now is the time to create your life story. In years to come, our photographs will keep these irreplaceable moments alive and much more than just a distant memory.
