Do you ever feel uninspired? Does monotony get the best of you? Lately, I have been feeling in a rut. I am trying to balance motherhood and my domestic duties, all while juggling my new business. There’s not enough time in the day to get it all done and the “mom guilt” is real. I feel distracted and consumed with my phone, often disconnected from my family. Time management is a work in progress.
Luckily, this weekend, however, I had the chance to step away from it all and revel in my daughter Gianna. As most of you know, she was recently cast as Kate in the Barn Theatre’s production of Annie. She has been vigorously rehearsing for 2 and a half months. Late nights and endless rehearsals have monopolized her time (and ours). She never once complained. Quite the contrary actually. She craved more and more as the process unraveled. Even as she remained listless on the couch from strep throat, she begged to still go to practice. Beyond the thrill of performing, she forged new friendships, achieved personal growth, and learned more about the world of theater. I am in awe of her dedication, determination, and passion for honing her craft.
Watching her perform is the icing on the cake. She gives 100% every time she steps on stage. I have always instilled hard work in my girls, so as a mother, this made me the most proud. There’s nothing like live theater. Raw, real, and intimate, shifting and evolving with every performance. I saw the show 3 times so far, and each experience has been better than the last!
With 11 more shows to go, I am already emotionally and physically exhausted. Gianna, however, never wants it to end! She certainly doesn’t mind monotony! After this weekend, I feel rejuvenated. My 10 year old daughter reignited the inspiration that was beginning to drift away. Watching her dreams unfold, pushes me to do the same! “A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” Thanks for the reminder GG!
