Beautiful weather is food for the soul. This weekend we were blessed with two perfect Spring like days. A fresh breeze sailed through every open window, corvette tops were down, kids were seen splashing in and out of sprinklers, and lots of ice cream was being indulged. It’s been a LONG winter and the warmer temperatures were just what the doctor ordered. I forgot how nice it was to walk outside and feel comfortable and free. No cumbersome jackets or cold weather accessories were needed. Instead the sun was brightly shining, the grass was visible sans snow, and people were finally smiling again.
I went to my best friend’s house on Saturday and reunited with a lot of my childhood friends. Watching our own kids play so nicely was the icing on the cake. We enjoyed catching up and the kids relished in the outdoors! This weekend was somewhat of a wake up call. I don’t see my friends nearly as much as I should. Girl time is imperative and right now it’s seriously lacking. As moms, we get so consumed with “life.” We have a hard time prioritizing for ourselves. I vow to change this. After a few short hours of “adulting,” I felt replenished. Phones were down and we engaged in real conversation. There’s something about time with old friends that is warming and comforting. It’s really true what they say. “You don’t have to have anything in common with people you have known since you were five. With old friends, you’ve got your whole life in common.”
This weekend reinforced balance and my lack there of. It’s all about quality of life and finding a happy balance between work, friends, and family. A work in progress, but I will get there!
Here’s to a new season filled with lot’s of sun, flip-flops, and valuable time spent with family and friends. Happiness truly is a sunny day!
