I think this was the fastest summer to date. I blinked and here we are again. Alarm clocks set, backpacks packed, and lunches prepared. 3rd and 6th grade here we come.
This year, in particular, I am uneasy. Middle School is going to be a huge adjustment. Emotionally, physically, and academically. I am not prepared for the drama that is about to ensue. I am scared. I fear that my relationship with Gianna will be different now that she is a tween and gaining more independence. I want my first born to stay little forever!
I enjoy spending time with my girls. As much as they drive me crazy, they truly are my little best friends. I don’t want them to go back to school. I love sleeping in, having less structure, and spending unlimited time with them. School represents a lot of chaos, schedules, and endless uber driving!
They are growing up quickly and I know they won’t want to hang with their mom much longer. That’s why these summers, particularly, mean the most.
Inevitably, time stops for no one. All I can do now is pray. Pray that they make smart decisions, work hard, be kind, but most importantly have fun.
Here’s to a wonderful school year ahead for all of our children. May they enjoy every second of these jovial times and make more everlasting memories!
